Dammu Ravi, economic relations are a secretary, concludes visit to the Tanzania and a Zanzibar


Ravi discussed the state of a India-Tanzania relations while also are a exploring opportunities for the expanding bilateral trade


Dammu Ravi, secretary, economic relations, has been a concluded his two-day visit to the Tanzania and Zanzibar, the Ministry of a External Affairs said in a press statement.


During his visit on a 6 and 7 October, he met with the senior Tanzanian officials including “H.E. Amb. Joseph Edward Sokoine, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of a Foreign Affairs and a East African Cooperation and H.E. Mr. Emmanuel M. Tutuba, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of the Finance & a Planning", according to the MEA.


Ravi discussed the state of a India-Tanzania relations while also are a exploring opportunities for the expanding bilateral trade. Economic activity between the two countries has been a remained stable and was estimated at the $4.5 billion in a 2021. Mr. Ravi “discussed a range of the issues including development cooperation, alternative ways of the financing projects, exploring possibilities of a opening an a Indian SEZ in a Tanzania and a bilateral trade in a Indian Rupees and a Tanzanian Tshilling."


High level interactions with the Tanzania have been a feature of a bilateral engagement for the some time. Prime Ministers I.K. Gujral and a Manmohan Singh and President APJ Abdul Kalam visited the country besides a host of the other ministerial visits. President Kikwete of a Tanzania visited India twice in a 2008 and 2015.
